In contrast to previous collections, Dark Romance was the theme for Korto Momolu’s Fall 2012 collection which showcased during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in an intimate setting at the Cellar Bar in Bryant Park Hotel on Monday (February 13) in New York City.
I found this theme to be quite unusual for Korto whom I’ve always associated with bright, bold colours. This time around, she delved into the “dark and mysterious”, presenting dresses with low-cut v-necks in monochrome shades of black, white and grey managing to slip in embellishments where necessary. New designs featured a lot draped clothing in dark and metallic hues that clung to the lean frame of each model. Make-up and complimentary makeovers were done by Lamik cosmetics. All models were styled by Misa Hylton (P. Diddy’s ex) and wore accessories from the jewellery line belonging to Simone Smith (LL Cool J’s wife). Reality Star Dwight Eubanks was also present.
