Summer Trends in Bathing Suits

Summer is a mere two months away, things are getting heated and we need to be prepared, and the best way to get ready for summer? BATHING SUITS! Bikinis, tankinis, full pieces and all the other creative swimwear are the main clothing staples for the summer. So I am here to talk about the newest and coolest for the summer.

I think we’ve all heard tons about vintage everything for quite a while now. There’s inspiration coming from every decade into every piece of clothing we wear, and apparently bathing suits too. High-waisted bikinis are a personal favourite of mine. I recently purchased a vintage style bathing suit via thrift that’s navy blue with white polka dots on it, reminding me of Rachel McAdams in The Notebook. But it’s not just the thrift stores you can find beautiful vintage bathing suits in; they’re all the rage on the runway, from Kate Spade and Mara Hoffman to Andrea Iyamah we’re seeing lots of vintage.

Aside from my favourite of high waisted bikinis, there has been quite the hype about metallic swimwear. To start, metallic make your skin look great and when metallics are wet, boy do they shine. Wearing a metallic bathing suit could get heads turning for all the right reasons. For some examples, here are the best of the best in metallics:

Lastly, I would like to bring up a trend that is definitely not only in bathing suits but you could catch it in just about anything. Animal prints. We’ve been seeing animal print all year, in gloves, handbags, dresses belts and more, now we get to experience the exotic print in bathing suits. Animal prints take a risk taker to wear them and they can be hard to pull off, but if you have the guts, animal prints can be super sexy- especially in the water.

Looking hot in the hot weather will not be hard this season with so many trends to choose from, so have fun and use sunscreen!
